The ski resort of Pamporovo is situated in the southern Rhodope mountains, at the foot of Snezhnaka peak (1928 m above sea level). It is just 85km south of the nearest airport in Plovdiv and 230km from Sofia, 15 km north of Smolyan, and 10 km south of Chepelare.

The winters in Pamporovo tend to be mild,  with over 100 sunny days during the season, December to April. The average yearly temperature is 5.5° Celsius.

Pamporovo is a family friendly resort, mainly visited by tourists during the winter for skiing and snowboarding, suitable for beginners and intermediates. It has 55 km of ski runs, which start from Snezhanka peak (between 1926m and 1400m above sea level). The resort also offers 38 km of cross-country skiing. The ski season commences in December and continues until the end of April.

Pamporovo is also a popular destination in the summer season, with temperatures reaching over and above 26° Celsius.  Beside the breath-taking pine forest scenery, the resort also offers a large number of tourist eco-trails and activities such as mounting biking, trekking, rock climbing, fishing, horse riding and others. Snezhanka peak is one of the '100 Tourist Sites of Bulgaria'.
